Silver Lake Sand Dunes
About riding at Silver Lake Sand Dunes
Sand dunes ride very differently with the weather. Light rain firms the sand and improves traction, while long dry spells leave it soft. Strong wind reshapes ridges and can create sharp drop-offs on the lee side of dunes. Summer heat on open sand is intense, and many dune areas require whip flags, so check local rules.
The forecast on this page is for the approximate center of the area. Conditions can differ across large areas and at different elevations. Trail rules, permits, vehicle width limits and seasonal or wet-weather closures vary, so check with the park or land manager before you ride.
